The Purge: Anarchy Film Review

Image
The Purge: Anarchy (2014), directed by James DeMonaco, is a science fiction and action film that takes place in a dystopian America where all crime is legal for 12 hours once a year. I liked this film more than the first Purge because it felt bigger, more exciting, and had more to say about society. It kept me on the edge of my seat with its intense action scenes and scary look at what happens when laws no longer exist. What I found most engaging about this movie was the setting and the story. Unlike the first film, which mostly took place in one house, Anarchy shows us what the Purge looks like in the streets of Los Angeles. The group of strangers trying to survive together made the story more interesting, and I cared about what happened to them. Frank Grillo’s character, Sergeant Leo Barnes, was my favorite because he was tough but also showed a lot of heart. The cinematography was very effective, with dark lighting and shaky camera shots that made the chaos feel real. One strengt...

National Treasure Film Review

National Treasure is a 2004 film about the character Ben Gates, played by Nicolas Cage, and his journey to search for a rumored treasure dating back to the creation of the United States. Joining an expedition led by fellow treasure hunter Ian Howe (Sean Bean), Gates finds an ice-locked Colonial ship in the Arctic Circle that contains a clue linking the treasure to the Declaration of Independence. But when Howe betrays him, Gates has to race to get to the document ahead of his so-called colleague. This film is categorized as an action-adventure film with elements of mystery and historical fiction. The movie blends real historical facts with a fictional treasure hunt narrative, resulting in an entertaining and intriguing story.      Overall, I found National Treasure to be a fun and engaging movie. It was a lighthearted, fast-paced adventure with a likable cast and an intriguing plot.. While it may not be a cinematic masterpiece visually or story-telling...

Everything Everywhere All at Once Film Review

Everything Everywhere All at Once   is one of the most engaging films I’ve ever seen, as it successfully combines heart-pounding action with deeply emotional storytelling. What I found most compelling was how the film managed to take a bizarre, chaotic concept of a multiverse and use it to tell a heartfelt story about a mother trying to connect with her daughter. Michelle Yeoh’s performance as Evelyn is powerful and layered, and her journey through countless alternate versions of herself feels both surreal and deeply personal. The mix of humor, absurdity, and sincerity kept me fully invested throughout the film.      The visuals were absolutely stunning—fast-paced, colorful, and imaginative, with universe-jumping scenes that felt both epic and intimate. The film’s strengths lie in its originality, emotional depth, and bold storytelling. Ke Huy Quan’s return to film was another highlight, bringing warmth and heart to the character of Waymond. Howev...
